There are approximately 12,000 bottles of the 2019 Clos de Vougeot Cuvee Classique this year and it contains about 70% whole bunch, matured in around one-third new oak. The attractive bouquet presents dark cherries, raspberry coulis, crushed stone and even light flinty scents. The palate is medium-bodied with white pepper sprinkled over the dark berry fruit. Fresh and mineral-driven with a classically styled, energetic, almost Morey-inspired finish. Excellent.

The 2019 Clos Vougeot Grand Cru unwinds in the glass with aromas of sweet berries, raw cocoa, loamy soil and incense. Medium to full-bodied, deep and elegantly muscular, it has lively acids, powdery tannins and a classically balanced, youthfully reserved profile. It's a touch finer-boned and more vibrant than its 2018 counterpart at the same stage.
