Bottled together with its 2015 successor in September 2016, the 2014 Berncasteler Doctor Riesling Spätlese trocken offers a clear, complex, elegant and nicely concentrated fruit aroma intermixed with noble sur-lie and flinty flavors. Full-bodied, rich, round and very elegant on the palate, this dry Doctor is lush and creamy but also very mineral and well structured, revealing remarkable finesse and freshness as well as some very nice bitters in the finish. This is a great Doctor Riesling from a difficult vintage. It was bottled with 12.5% alcohol and just 4.8 grams of residual sugar.
