Beautiful aromatic complexity, powerful aromas of ripe red fruits such as cherry and raspberry blend with spicy notes of black pepper and licorice, along with subtle hints of scrubland. This wine reveals itself as full-bodied with a silky texture and fine, flavorful tannins, giving way to a long finish that speaks of great elegance.

The 2017 Châteauneuf Du Pape is rocking stuff. Blueberries, crushed violets, ground pepper, and crushed stone-like minerality all emerge from this medium to full-bodied, beautifully concentrated, elegant, pure, lengthy wine. It plays in the more fresh, focused, Burgundian style yet has classic Southern Rhône character, ripe tannins, and a great finish. Give it 2-4 years and enjoy over the following 10-15 years.

The 2017 Chateauneuf du Pape is more red fruited than the 2018, with cherries and raspberries leading the way. It's full-bodied and concentrated, perhaps a bit more tannic and not as easy to drink right now, but well done, with hints of garrigue adding nuance to the long finish.
