The 2019 Gevrey-Chambertin Vieilles Vignes comes from La Justice, Les Crais and Jouises and had just been racked and returned to barrel. Deeper in color than the Beaune cuvees, it offers red cherries, kirsch and orange blossom, all well defined and focused. The palate has a succulent, sensual opening, a mixture of red and black fruit laced with orange peel/blood orange, and a very harmonious and silky-smooth finish. This lingers temptingly in the mouth. A very fine Gevrey-Chambertin.

The 2019 Gevrey-Chambertin Vieilles Vignes is promising, unwinding in the glass with aromas of cassis, wild berries, orange rind and sweet soil tones. Medium to full-bodied, layered and velvety, it's lively and nicely concentrated, with powdery tannins that assert themselves on the gently chalky finish.
